Cablevision adds new HD channels to its Fleximo digital service

On June 2, 2010, digital Cablevision enhanced its Fleximo digital service by adding new high-definition (HD) channels to its lineup.

Several new channels now available
Since June 2nd, Cablevision subscribers in Abitibi-Témiscamingue have access to new HD channels, including Golf HD, HBO HD, TSN 2 HD, Zeste HD, Vrak HD, Évasion HD and ArTV HD and standard definition channels like Yoopa, the new children’s channel, Télétoon Rétro, CinéPop, BNN and Wild, for those who enjoy hunting and fishing.

Additional free high-definition content is also added to Fleximo’s basic digital service. APTN, Télé-Québec, Global, RDI and TV5 are offered in high-definition.

Fleximo is cutting-edge digital TV with over 260 channels available since June 2nd and many new HD channels, community channels and local general-interest channels including V, TVA and Radio-Canada, personalized packages and the highest quality images and sounds.

From analog to digital
Just as in the United States, the end of the analog age in Canada is looming.  Soon, only a small portion of customers will continue to receive this aging service.  Aimed essentially at freeing radio frequencies, the end of the analog era will give service providers more freedom with regards to their digital offer, enabling them to add HD channels to their networks.

To effectively carry out the Fleximo digital service enhancement project and provide more HD channels to customers, Cablevision reviewed its current analog channel lineup.  Since June 2nd, Cablevision’s basic analog service includes some 20 channels.  All of the customers affected by the change will be personally contacted and given the option to switch to Cablevision’s digital service and take advantage of its many extras for only a few dollars more than their current package.
